Frequently Asked Questions

Why was the Mortal Herbal Order established by the Upper Realm?

The Herbal Order came into being as dictated by the course of nature, and was founded for the sake of all living beings. In the world to come, wars will rage unceasingly, natural disasters and man-made calamities will run rampant, and a variety of diseases will prevail. Numerous strange illnesses will emerge abruptly, undermining the health of all humanity and even threatening lives. The existence of the Herbal Order is not meant to alter the destiny of humankind; instead, it aims to alleviate the agony of illnesses, free people from affliction, and enable them to live out their lives in peace and safety.

Have there ever been immortals from the Upper Realm who descended to the mortal world to dispense medicine and healing?

Yes, there have. In ancient China, figures such as Zhang Zhongjing, Bian Que and Hua Tuo were all guided by immortals from the Upper Realm to heal the sick and save the dying among mortals. They also wrote medical works to pass down the knowledge of medicine and healing. However, due to the drastic changes in climate and diet between ancient times and the present day, the herbal prescriptions of the ancients are no longer suitable for the physical constitutions of modern people. Therefore, the Upper Realm has sent immortals bearing "the Upper Realm's official documents and travel permits" to the mortal world, to deliver medicinal knowledge and save lives. These immortals seek out the designated inheritors and destined individuals of the Herbal Order, and pass down medical knowledge tailored to modern humans. In Western societies, there have also been inheritors like ours, who carried forward Western medical achievements and healed the sick. Though belonging to different schools, these inheritors all take it as their mission to benefit all living beings. Such inheritors appear in the mortal world only once every few thousand years.

What is the mission of the Herbal Order?

Its sole mission is to heal all living beings and pass down the knowledge of medicine

Does the Herbal Order employ acupuncture for treatment?

Acupuncture is an excellent therapeutic method. However, the Herbal Order generally does not use acupuncture, relying solely on "qi-acupuncture" instead. Prolonged use of acupuncture can damage patients' meridians, which may lead to adverse effects years later. Furthermore, the ancient acupuncture techniques required practitioners to possess profound internal strength; otherwise, the desired therapeutic effect could not be achieved. The Herbal Order adopts its unique inherited massage technique, namely "qi-guided massage", which yields twice the result with half the effort and delivers better efficacy than acupuncture.

In what aspects is the traditional Chinese medicine inherited by the Herbal Order superior to modern traditional Chinese medicine?

First of all, due to historical factors, there have been numerous gaps in the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine over thousands of years, along with a great many incorrect prescriptions. The Herbal Order revises and supplements these deficiencies to make them suitable for modern people. In particular, a large number of documents regarding pulse diagnosis methods, the underlying logic of herbal prescriptions, and the techniques of medicinal herb cultivation and processing are incomplete. Secondly, drastic changes in climate and diet have directly rendered a great number of ancient prescriptions incompatible with the physical constitutions of modern people. Owing to the gaps in inheritance, modern practitioners can barely formulate accurate prescriptions; they can only make minor additions or deletions to ancient ones, and are even less capable of creating effective prescriptions for emerging diseases. The Herbal Order respects all medical practitioners, and its inherited prescriptions and pharmacological knowledge can treat a wider range of diseases, bringing benefits to all living beings.

What capabilities and reserves does the Herbal Order currently possess?

Through years of cultivation and learning, disciples of the Herbal Order can diagnose and treat modern human diseases. They can also cure future illnesses using special methods and herbal prescriptions. The Herbal Order’s current reserve of prescriptions can heal numerous mortal diseases, including cancer, Parkinson's disease, and AIDS. More importantly, the Herbal Order is committed to continuously passing down all the knowledge and capabilities it has acquired, to benefit the mortal world for centuries to come.

Where does the Herbal Order’s current revenue come from?

The Herbal Order does not generate any revenue at present. Healing the sick and saving the dying is provided free of charge, and medicinal herbs are also purchased, collected, and processed by the Order’s disciples before being donated to patients at no cost. All proceeds from the future sale of prescriptions will be allocated to free medical treatment and daily operational expenses. Another prospective source of income is expected to come from donations made by destined benefactors. The Herbal Order is currently preparing the compilation of a medical treatise —the most comprehensive work on traditional Chinese herbal medicine in thousands of years. This treatise will be translated into multiple languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic.

Is the Herbal Order open to cooperation in the inheritance of medical knowledge?

The Herbal Order welcomes cooperation with destined individuals, provided that the partners are committed to the inheritance of medical knowledge and the mission of healing the sick and saving the dying

What is the Herbal Order’s opinion of Western medicine?

Respect. The core logic of Western medicine is also passed down from the Upper Realm, and those Western inheritors have made great meritorious contributions to mortal society. In ancient times, Western sages extracted medicinal substances from minerals, conducted analyses, and purified them into effective remedies for healing—this is essentially the same as Eastern medicine in principle. Healers transcend national boundaries and ethnicities, and healing the sick and saving the dying is a shared conviction we all hold.

Is traditional Chinese medicine suitable for Westerners to learn?

Absolutely. Furthermore, Westerners have different physical constitutions and suffer from different major diseases compared with Easterners. This requires destined individuals to conduct in-depth research and inheritance. For instance, the theories about human origins recorded in the religious classics of both East and West are absolutely true. Westerners are made from plants, while Easterners are made from soil. As a result, Westerners are not susceptible to cold-dampness, whereas Easterners tend to have a heavy accumulation of cold-dampness in the body. Thus, their physical constitutions and skeletons differ, and so does the underlying logic of herbal medication.

In the eyes of immortals from the Upper Realm, how is mortal society perceived?

A purgatory.

What mortal diseases is the Herbal Order unable to cure?

The Herbal Order does not presume to claim that it can effectively cure all diseases in the mortal world. After all, medicine is an endless pursuit. Furthermore, some illnesses are tied to an individual’s karmic destiny, and the Herbal Order will not intervene deeply in such cases. The Herbal Order is committed to actively researching and treating all manner of mortal diseases. We do not fear the existence of incurable illnesses. What we worry about is that if a disease emerges that can kill millions of people every day, the Herbal Order will be unable to promptly share the correct treatment methods with the world and prevent a tragedy from unfolding.
